We all know about the physical negative impact spending too much time watching TV but have you ever considered the negative impact of spending too much time on social media? If we are on a phone too much, we end up with pains in our wrist’s, fingers and thumbs, our backs start to hunch over causing neck pain, and some people even end up with headaches. But the negative affects I am talking about are mental.
When we spend way too much time on social media, we end up with mental fatigue due to all of the stimulation and hundreds and hundreds of negative comments, negative posts, and the garbage that other people find enjoyment in and post onto social media. We also see a society that has an addiction of social media.
I know I have posted about this before, but when was the last time you took two days and removed yourself from all social media? By removing yourself from social media and picking up a good book or playing games with your family, you are allowing your brain to relax and your mind to wander on to something else. We do not need the stimulation that comes from social media as much as we think we do. We lived without it our whole lives (most of us) before the year 2000 so why do we allow it to take us over now?
I would encourage each of you to take two days 48 hours and remove yourself from all social media outlets and let me know how you make out. I would be interested to see if you were able to relax a little bit more, enjoy your loved ones more and if you were able to take in the sights and sounds around you.
