When was the last time you spent quality time with yourself? I mean really spend quiet time for reflection and relaxation all by yourself?
We have become a society of doers and goers. We seem to feel like we must always be doing something or going somewhere, and we forget that it’s OK to just be by ourselves and relax.
I am very guilty of this. I work a job full-time, I have a family, and I’m a constant learner. While I enjoy these activities, there are days when I just need, and do recognize that I need to just be.
The best part is that now I know when they’re coming. Meaning that on a Thursday or Friday of a busy week, I will come home and tell my husband that this weekend, or even just one day of the weekend, I am going nowhere and I’m doing nothing that requires me to be in action.
When I take time to reflect and relax, these quiet times allow me to refill my energy so I’m able to keep going and be supportive to those around me. This includes exercise, yoga or other mindfulness activity to refresh myself.
If you have a hard time relaxing and enjoying quiet time, now may be the perfect time to reset and think about yourself and the needs that you have in this life. When you take the time to reflect and relax the world opens up for you. I can promise you that.
P.s. Learning to relax and taking time for reflection does take time. But in the end, you’ll thank yourself and so all those around you. If you are looking for a way to learn how to relax and reflect let me know and I will be happy to offer you support.
