How are we supposed to stay positive when times are hard? I wanted to reach out and share some information regarding positivity and encourage each of you to take some time each day to ground yourself and enjoy the positive things in your life.
People ask me if being positive really matters and to me it truly does. When we are in a more positive mindset, we tend to see things differently and look for more positive things in life. We look forward to events and activities and we remain in a positive state of mind more often and longer than if we were negative. When we are in a negative place (and it’s ok to be there sometimes, just don’t stay there) we refuse to see or miss the opportunities we have right in front of us.
I want to encourage you to take some time to try and figure out how you going to get into or stay in a positive mindset. How about going for a walk a couple of times a day to clear your mind; check out the sunset or sit and really feel the afternoon sun of your face. What about sitting down with an adult coloring book and colored pencils? Doing some crafts or working on a puzzle? How about that model or Lego you have in your closet? Pull it out and put it together. What a sense of accomplishment you will have!
Here’s another idea- Strap on your work boots and go outside in the garden to pull weeds. Get your perennials ready by pulling away the old foliage and visualize that beautiful landscape you remember. Or just sit and listen to the birds for a while. I mean really listen to them. What are they saying? What do you think they are saying? The world around us is amazing if we let it enter our souls.
I also find it easy for me to write in a journal every night. Some people find this painful or do not enjoy it but journaling allows you to remove all of the thoughts in your head; both positive and negative. It frees your brain to soak in all of the amazing things in life when you release the ugly. I sleep better, have a more positive attitude and see my day in a whole different light when I journal.
Give some of these ideas a try and let me know how you feel.
Until we meet again…
